1967 ALF 900 Series Aero Chief 90 from Griffith, IN

Here is the only Aero Chief that was equipped with a booster pump and tank. Delivered in red paint, it first served New Albany, IN before being sold to Griffith where it was repainted chrome yellow.

This one appears to carry a smaller complement of ground ladders.

1967 ALF 900 Series Aero Chief 90 from Richmond, CA

Like Santa Clara's rig, Richmond's Aero Chief seems to carry less ground ladders than normal. This one had the larger 6" piping for the waterway. In 1992, it was sold to a tree trimming company.

This high profile 90' quint from La Mesa featured double front bumpers.

1967 ALF 900 Series Aero Chief 80 from Mishawaka, IN

After serving Mishawaka, this one was sold to the Kankakee Township FD in Rolling Prairie, IN. The cab roof and wheels were repainted white.

1967 ALF 900 Series Aero Chief 90 Quint from Hopwood, PA

Originally delivered to Pleasant Hills, PA this one later served Hopwood, PA. It was powered by a Mack engine. An unusual detail is the rear wheelwell. Only three Aero Chiefs had bodywork that filled the gap between the tandem rear axles. In 1996, it was sold to a private collector in Denbo, PA.

1968 ALF 900 Series Aero Chief 90 from Tallassee, AL

Here is the one that started this whole project! One day I stumbled across it in the small town of Tallassee and was told that it came from Setauket, NY. I already knew of a few others that had found their way to second and third homes, and this piqued my interest. The "hunt" has been on ever since! Tallassee retired this one in 2000 and sold it to a local farmer who replaced the boom and body with a large water tank for his farm.

1968 ALF 900 Series Aero Chief 90 from Richmond, VA

Richmond's Aero Chief was destroyed in a wreck in 1974, ending it's six year career. Portions of this apparatus were used to construct a 100' rearmount aerial that served Wilmington Island, GA. It is now collector owned.

1968 ALF 900 Series Aero Chief 80 Quint from Plainville, CT

Replaced by a KME 102' AerialCat platform, Plainville's Aero Chief was sitting at the KME factory in 1995. It was later sold to a sign company in Panama City, FL. It was seen again in 1998 at American Tree Service in Panama City.

Hidden away in the mountains of extreme western Virginia, the small town of Norton operated this one for over twenty-five years. It was sold to Lebanon, VA in 1993 and later sold to a contractor near Bristol, VA.

After serving Manville, NJ for about 30 years, this compact Aero Chief 70 was sold to a collector in Homer, NY.

Delivered new to Loudonville, NY, this tandem axle Aero Chief 90 was later sold to the William Cronin Hook & Ladder Company in Hoosick Falls, NY.

1968 ALF Century Series 100' rearmount from Irwin, PA

No, it doesn't really look like an Aero Chief, but it used to. It began life as a red 900 Series Aero Chief 90 with the Youngstown, OH FD. During it's career there, it was heavily damaged when a wall collapsed on it at a fire. The Youngstown FD had it refurbed with a Century cab and a 100' ALF rearmount ladder. After years of service, it was sold to Irwin, PA where it is still in service.
